The Samsung Galaxy S24 box has arrived! We’ve shown you the phone & the first look, but today we’re going to do the unboxing & first impressions. And I’d like to say something, which I’ve already said in our Trends video that AI is going to dominate. In fact, we’re going to talk about the features of Artificial Intelligence in the unboxing. And let me tell you, the S24 Ultra sets a benchmark! There are a lot of things that you need to know about this phone.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Unboxing The box is a little big, but it’s for us. If you buy it, you’ll get this small box. Is there anything else in it? No, there’s nothing else. Galaxy AI is there! It’s the highlight, it’ll be seen everywhere. Black box, phone right up front, we’ll talk about it. USB Type C to Type C cable, documentation, sim card tool, it’s right here. Let’s keep it aside & look at the phone. As soon as you hold it, the first thing you notice is that Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Design it’s lightweight compared to the S23 Ultra. The reason is the titanium frame, but let’s see how lightweight it is.
I really want to check this out, I don’t know but it’s definitely light. It’s at least 15g lighter compared to the S23 Ultra. Whoa! It’s 233. 8g! Wow! It’s 235. But it’s noticeably light, there’s hardly a difference of 2-3g. I think its weight distribution is better than this. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Ports & Buttons Ports & Buttons There’s a sim card tray, microphone, USB Type C port, speaker grill, S Pen slot & S Pen. There’s nothing on the left hand side, you can see the antenna lines on the titanium frame. On the top, there are 2 noise cancelling microphones.
On the right hand side, there’s a volume rocker & power on off button. In hand feel, it’s big, it’s an ultrafone & it’s on the heavier side. But it feels good, it’s very sturdy. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Build Quality Why is it sturdy? Because you get Gorilla Glass Armor on both the front & back. It’s the successor to the Victus 2 & that’s why we’re going to drop it. We’re going to drop it very hard, it’s an armor. Oh! I dropped it too hard, there’s a lot of noise. From the back, alright! No, nothing. It’s very sturdy.
I don’t think if the phone falls from 2-3 feet, it won’t be a big deal. But yes, you must be careful. In fact, I’m going to talk about the display, performance & camera. But AI is the highlight & let’s talk about AI. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Galaxy AI I’m kind of impressed with it. Literally, AI is available in every area. For example, Interactive Search. Whether you’re on any app or browser, you’ll get the benefit of Interactive Search. What is Interactive Search? You don’t have to type or talk. Whatever is on the screen, just circle it.
If you’re on Ultra or Non-Ultra, then do it by hand & it’ll search right there. The 2nd thing that impressed me the most is its Live Translate. Imagine, you’re speaking in Hindi & someone else is speaking in Tamil. But you can speak fluently to each other. Yes, that is the magic of Live Translate. In fact, I’ll show you a demo. All the photos that are. . . Oh, alright. I’ll send it to you. But do you need via WhatsApp or via Mail? Send me an HD photo on WhatsApp. What if I don’t send you? What if I don’t send you? Arnab, I’ll beat you up. Arnab, I’ll kill you a lot.
But remember, there’s support for 13 languages. Obviously, there’ll be more languages. But yes, 13 languages are supported now. And not just in calling, if you’re on WhatsApp or Instagram, you’re messaging there & there’s Live Translate there too. So, this phone has removed the barrier of communication & language barrier. And all these things are on-device. It doesn’t go to cloud. Yes, you have to download a small language package at the start. That’s it. Especially, Ultra’s S Pen is going to be used by more people.
Because my writing isn’t that good. Now, there’s a feature where I scribble anything. Up, down, lines aren’t properly. It automatically formats everything with the help of AI. It shows you bullet points. It’s become so easy. My goodness! This is for note-taking. But there’s a big paragraph on your screen & there’s a lot of text. You have to summarize it. It’ll be summarized by AI & give you a summary of the paragraph in 3-4 lines. Imagine, you’re a college student & your class is going on. You’re recording & 10 people are speaking.
Literally, the voice of 10 people can segment. And it’ll give you bullet points. Meaning, you don’t have to listen to the voice recording. Whatever recording you’ve done, AI will automatically create the points & notes. My goodness, it’s become so easy now. My goodness, it’s become so easy for today’s students. Let’s talk about Generative AI.
There’s Generative Fill & Generative Wallpapers. Now, you don’t need any wallpaper. You can create the wallpapers as you want. You can create the wallpapers according to your architecture & color. The way you want it. There’s also Photo Ambient Wallpaper. So, you can create any wallpaper as you want. If it’s snowing outside, you’ll see it on the lock screen. So, there are a lot of small nifty features. It comes with One UI 6. 1 which has a lot of small new features. For example, there are a lot of new widgets on the lock screen which you can use. There are lots of things to talk about on the software side. Generative Fill. If you take a photo & there’s a pole, tree or car which you want to remove. You can remove any unwanted thing. It becomes like this. For this, it goes to the cloud. I think the rest of it is on devices.
But, it does it so well. I was impressed. Samsung has done a good thing. If you don’t know if it’s generated or an original photo, it gives a watermark on the photo. And it also adds in the metadata that it’s generated by AI. When I did the first look video, I didn’t know. I thought I’d get 7 years of security updates. No, you’ll get 7 years of major updates.
Android 14 comes out of the box. And then Android 21. You’ll get it till Android 21. Who uses a phone for 7 years? But yes, you’ll definitely get updates. If I talk about the hardware, it’s an incremental update. If I talk about the display, it’s brightness has increased. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Display It’s a 6. 8” QHD display. It’s an LTPO display, so it has an adaptive refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz. It has a peak brightness of 2600 nits. And yes, it’s a flat display now. So it’ll make it easy for you to read on the screen. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Performance For performance, it comes with 8th Gen 3. It’s made for Galaxy. What’s the difference? The Prime Core is overclocked to 3. 39GHz. The normal one is at 3. 3GHz. But the other 7 cores are less than 100MHz. So if it’s 3GHz, then it’s 2. 9GHz. And I think it’s for heat management & thermals. Antutu scores are close to 2M, 1. 9M-1. 93M. You can play games on the highest settings. You can play Call of Duty on 120FPS & New State on 90FPS. Thermals are good & they’re much controlled. Because it has a 1. 9X vapour cooling chamber, which helps in heat dissipation. And the phone stays cool. Interestingly, there’s only 1 variant with 12GB RAM. You have storage options like 256GB, 512GB & 1TB. But they didn’t go on the 16GB & 24GB bandwagon.
You get a 12GB RAM phone. It has a 5000mAh battery & the charging speed is 45W. It has 15W wireless charging & 4. 5W reverse wireless charging. The USB Type C is USB 3. 2 Gen 1. It has a big multimedia display, Samsung Flagship S24 Ultra display. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Multimedia Even the audio quality is good. Multimedia is going to be fun. It has a flat display with thin bezels. It’s great for multimedia. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Sensors All sensors are present. Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor & face unlock work very well.
It’s a flagship so there’s a Knox matrix for security. It basically ensures that your data is private. There’s WiFi 7, 5G connectivity, Bluetooth 5. 3, NFC. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Connectivity So there are all the connectivity options. There’s a dual nano sim card. But there’s eSIM support as well. So it’s a dual nano sim card. If you want to use eSIM, you can use 1 physical & 1 eSIM. Samsung Find is similar to Find My Phone. You can use the same app to find all your Samsung devices. It has Ultra Wideband support. Finally, let’s talk about cameras. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Camera It has a quad camera setup. There’s a 200MP primary sensor, 50MP periscope which gives you 5X optical zoom. There’s a 10MP telephoto sensor which gives you 3X optical zoom. If you combine periscope & telephoto, you get 10X optical zoom. And there’s a 12MP ultrawide sensor. So that’s the setup. I’m going to show you the photos on G-Drive. If I talk about the zoom, it stays intact & forwards the S23 Ultra legally. If I talk about the telephoto lens, it used to be 10MP but now it’s 50MP & there’s an extra lens too. Not only that, it’s aperture has also been reduced. It’s a wider aperture now. It used to be f4. 9 but now it’s f3. 4 & due to which you can take good photos in low light conditions. There’s a lot of use of AI in the camera, where it sharpens the photos with the help of AI. When you take zoom photos, it makes it sharper using AI.
The default mode takes 12MP photos but you can also take 200MP photos natively. Interestingly, Samsung has given a new name to Pro Visual Engine for all these new features. And I’ve told you that you can do a lot of things with AI even after taking the photos. It goes to the cloud, so you can edit, change, take photos, add, etc. And I’ll tell you what, I was impressed! It’s not just a feature for the name, but when we used it, I was impressed! I also liked the instant slow motion feature. You’ve taken a normal video, but when you press the long button, it slows down the video.
Essentially, it uses the help of AI to slow down the video. You can shoot videos in 4K 120FPS, but you can shoot videos in 4K 60FPS from 0. 6X to 10X. That’s impressive! And when you’re shooting a video, you can actually change it while shooting the video. There’s a 12MP selfie sensor, but it can shoot 4K 60FPS videos. I’ve told you about the wireless charging & there’s IP68 certification, so there won’t be any problem with water & dust. Whatever you expect in a flagship phone, everything is there. We’ll have to use it for a few days & it’s going to be my primary driver in the next few days. So there’s going to be a detailed review on it, so do subscribe! And as we saw last year, the S24 series also uses a lot of recycled materials, so it’s environmentally friendly. The packaging is 100% recycled & the buttons are also recycled.
But what are my first impressions of the S24 Ultra? Let’s talk about the price. The base variant starts at Rs 1. 29L, but if you pre-order now, you’re getting a benefit of Rs 22K. There are direct bank offers of Rs 12K & you’re getting a storage space of Rs 10K. So you’re going to get a benefit of Rs 22K in total. So if I look at the effective price, you’re going to get a 512GB variant for Rs 1. 18L, which I think is quite good. In terms of price, it was expected to be similar to the S23 & S24 Ultra. It’s more than Rs 4-5K, but due to offers, it’s a bit less. It’s the S24 base variant & there’s going to be a review & unboxing of it, so wait for that. It was one of the best phones with the S23 Ultra in 2023. So it definitely has the potential to be one of the best phones in 2024. Let’s use it, it’s going to be fun in the next few days.
